Dr. Kathleen Yen is a board certified adult psychiatrist practicing in Houston, Texas. She is a native Houstonian and a graduate of Bellaire High School and Rice University.
Dr. Yen received her medical degree and completed her psychiatry residency training at the prestigious University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. She served as co-chief resident during her final year of training.
During her training she gained broad expertise in treating a wide range of psychiatric illnesses. In addition to medication management, she learned and conducted different types of psychotherapy sessions with emphasis on psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies. She also pursued extra studies in family therapy at the UT Southwestern Family Studies Center where she conducted family therapy and couples therapy sessions.
Since completing residency training, Dr. Yen has provided exceptional mental health care across the region serving at the Krist Samaritan Center, the University of Houston – Clear Lake campus, as well as at the Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (formerly MHMRA).
Dr. Yen is a member of the following professional organizations: American Psychiatric Association, Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, Texas Medical Association, and Harris County Medical Society.
